abstract = "Atmospheric aerosols are involved in several climate and weather
processes. In Brazil, aerosol particles are often released by
biomass burning in the Amazon forests and they are also
redistributed toward far regions by winds. Thereby, this
components influence is spread out through the entire
south-American continent. The evolution of the aerosol content in
the air column depends on a combination of atmospheric state and
source factors. In this paper, Aerosol Optical Depth periodicity
is analyzed in three Brazilian locations: Alta Floresta, Rio
Branco and S{\~a}o Paulo. To perform that, DSA-CPTEC/INPE MODIS
retrievals were employed. Continuous Wavelet Transform through
Morlet Wavelet was applied on six years Aerosol Optical Depth
monthly means data for determining its frequency components. In
analyzed locations, same frequency significant oscillations were
detected, even though appreciable difference was shown in the
amplitude of S{\~a}o Paulos ones when comparing with the others
places, due to the distance from Amazon basin. Seasonal and annual
fluctuations, and also 18 and 30 months periods were found.",
